WHO: COVID-19 Still Threatened Despite Success Vaccine Trials

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says there is a lot of work to be done to combat the corona virus epidemic despite good news this week about the success of vaccine trials.

Speaking from Geneva on Friday as the number of infections increased around the world Tedros said vaccination was the only tool in fighting the epidemic but people should not forget other precautionary measures if we want to eradicate the disease. 

The number of people infected per day in Russia and the United States has reached the highest level ever witnessed since the epidemic began. 

Russia reported the presence of more than 21,000 people infected yesterday. 

In Europe, tensions are running high due to the increase in infections, prompting many nations to begin taking drastic measures to control the spread of the virus. 

In France alone more than 35,000 people have been infected in the past 24 hours.
