According to the report, the construction of new classrooms in public high schools will be implemented in 9 Makueni sub-counties.
Kibwezi Sub-County will benefit from 78 classrooms to be built in 58 schools, Makueni 62 classrooms in 43 schools, Nzaui 55 classrooms in 43 schools, Mukaa 47 classrooms in 34 schools, Mbooni west classrooms 46 in 32 schools, Mbooni west will have 40 classrooms in 33 schools , Kilungu 34 classrooms in 22 schools, Kathonzo 40 classrooms in 32 schools and 33 classrooms to be built in 27 schools in Makindu sub-county.
The government's project aims to equip schools ready for full implementation of the new CBC vocational education curriculum which will see students enroll in secondary schools from 2023.
Makueni County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed addressing the event said the construction of the classrooms would cost the government 342,875,700 shillings.
Commissioner Maalim has revealed that chiefs and deputy chiefs will oversee the construction with an average cost per class of 788,220 shillings.
Among those who attended the event were Makueni County Education Director James Gachungi, Alex Cheruiyot, Director of the County Teachers Recruitment Commission, and deputy commissioners.
