The Kenyan and British governments have dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that the British government has stopped recruiting health professionals from Kenya.

According to a statement signed by Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe and British Ambassador to Tanzania Jane Marriott, the plan to recruit health professionals from within the country will continue in line with the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on employment of health professionals and social formation.

They said the long-standing relationship between the two countries led to the signing of a memorandum of understanding in July this year, thus enabling local health professionals to be employed under the UK's national health care program.

In addition, the governments of the two countries indicated that they have developed strategies at the Nairobi Medical Training College, which can be used as a hub for staff preparation, examinations and examinations and to ensure that local nurses arrive at the exams well-prepared.

Kagwe said his ministry is making every effort to promote high standards of ethics in the registration of health workers in line with the best international standards, as well as in a fair and transparent manner.
