The study, conducted between January and October this year, shows that a total of 2,379 girls aged 10 to 14 were aborted in the last 10 months.
Second place was taken by Homa Bay County, which registered 1,530 cases, followed by Kajiado with visas (1,496), Mandera visas (1,370) while Bomet County closed the list of the first five counties with 1,041 cases of aborted girls.
During that period, nine Trans-Nzoia, Vihiga, Tharaka Nithi, Nandi, Lamu, Kwale, Kericho, Narok and Murang'a counties registered a reduction in cases of aborted girls.
In addition, the study shows that half of the eastern counties in the country reported an increase in the number of aborted girls, with Embu County leading, followed by Kitui, Machakos, and Marsabit.
The report says the national incidence rate for aborted girls is 18 percent, with stakeholders calling for inter-agency intervention to end the scourge.
