The government is working with a council of various denominations in the country to sensitize believers and the general public about the need for vaccination against Covid-19.
A national awareness campaign on the importance of vaccinating against Covid-19, led by religious leaders, was launched today at the Union Hall in Nairobi.
The government aims to provide 13 million vaccines against covid 19 while another three million doses of the vaccine are expected in the country in the next few days.
Speaking at the launch, senior secretary in the health ministry Dr. Rashid Aman said the duration of the vaccine was short as he called on Kenyans to come forward and be vaccinated.
He said they plan to use places of worship as centers of immunization. So far Kenya has received approximately 20,892,970 Covid-19 vaccines and provided 7.6 million doses.
4.6 million people have received the first dose while another three million have received both doses.
The government aims to vaccinate about 10 million Kenyans by the end of this year.
