President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated Kenya's commitment to democracy, respect for human rights, peace and security in the region as well as the fight against corruption.
President Kenyatta's message was presented via video on Friday evening at a conference on democracy organized by US President Joe Biden. The two-day conference attracted high profile participants from more than 100 nations.
The president told the conference that Since independence, Kenya has gradually strengthened its democracy and the rule of law.
President Kenyatta informed the forum that Kenya has incorporated an electoral system that has ensured regular elections in the past under a one-party system that preceded the multi-party system.
On regional peace and security, President Kenyatta said Kenya would continue to support international efforts to find a lasting solution to the conflict and instability plaguing neighboring nations.
"Kenya has been at the forefront of peacekeeping operations in Africa and beyond. "Kenya's participation in peacekeeping is proof enough of the important role it plays in restoring democratic institutions," said President Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta also spoke about Kenya's war on corruption saying the country has reached a milestone during his tenure.
The head of state said the success in the fight against corruption was due to the efforts of various government agencies, where intelligence, investigative and prosecuting agencies work together.
In his inaugural address, US President Joe Biden warned that democracy is at stake in the world, calling for concerted efforts to restore democracy.
Others who spoke at the forum included UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as well as heads of state and government from around the world.
