Deputy President William Ruto has blasted members of the Mt Kenya Foundation once again, accusing them of being a group of greedy persons solely interested in their ill-gotten gains.
Among the Mt Kenya Foundation's members are Peter Munga, the founder of Equity Bank, and SK Macharia, the founder of Royal Media Service (RMS).
The organization sponsored former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's presidential campaign in December of last year, claiming he is the best-positioned individual to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, who will step down in August.
The Mt Kenya millionaires' endorsement of Raila has left a deep wound in Ruto's mind, and he has been attacking the group on a regular basis.
Ruto claimed plans were being developed by some persons "who think they can dominate Kenyans" to reinstate the imperial presidency in Vihiga County on Thursday.
Kenyans, according to Ruto, overwhelmingly approved the 2010 Constitution, which, among other things, abolished the imperial presidency.
"A few wealthy individuals believe that they can sit in a specific Nairobi hotel and pick their puppet president to handle our country's affairs and defend their interests and fortune," Ruto added.
Kenyans are more informed than previously, according to the second in charge, and they want a government that can alter their lives.
"Kenyans are eager and prepared to vote for leaders who have plans and agendas to alter the lives of regular Kenyans, who make up the country's majority population," he stated.
