After Moses Wetangula, the head of the Ford Kenya Party, withdrew his presidential ambition in August, Deputy President William Ruto has gained yet another huge boost.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Chris Wamalwa, a Kiminini Member of Parliament, hinted that Wetang'ula had dropped out of the presidential campaign and would now work with Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and other like-minded politicians.

"We had a Ford Kenya parliamentary group meeting today." We have approved resolutions stating that Ford Kenya would work with the ANC, UDA, and other like-minded groups.

Wamalwa remarked, "This is a collaboration that will go to the State House."

In late December 2021, Ruto formally reached out to Wetang'ula and ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi for 2022 pre-coalition negotiations.

Veronica Maina, the UDA secretary-general, revealed that the two had been called for negotiations ahead of the August 9 General Election.

Maina said the restructured organization was waiting for responses from two former NASA officials who backed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the 2013 and 2017 elections.
