Dr. Alfred Mutua, Governor of Machakos, has finally made his decision on who he will support for president in the August elections.
In an interview earlier today, Mutua stated that if he does not run for president, he will vote for ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
The second-term governor stated that he is leaning toward Raila's Azimio La Umoja movement.
He insisted that, despite being a member of the Azimio political movement, he had not withdrawn his quest for the presidency.
Mutua indicated that he has a soft place for ODM leader Raila because of his democratic values, but he will not support him if he changes his mind about running for the presidency.
If I do not run for president, if anything occurs, for example, if I am unable to run for whatever reason, and I am still eligible to vote, I will vote for Raila. Because I know what he represents. But for now, I'm hoping Raila will reach a stage where he can say, "'Mutua is better, he's a younger version of me,'" he added.
Mutua is one of three Ukambani governors who have publicly backed Odinga's presidential ambitions, despite openly dismissing Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka's bid.
Among the others are Charity Ngilu, governor of Kitui, and Kivutha Kibwana, governor of Makueni.
