After being accused in the cold-blooded murder of former Kabete MP George Muchai, COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has gone out guns blazing.
In response to the elephant in the room, Atwoli denied ever having any involvement in the murder of Muchai, who was also his COTU deputy.
He asked people who have evidence that might aid in the investigation of Muchai's murder to come it forward.
His comments came after a group of social media users connected him to Muchai's death while releasing a video of the MP bemoaning the fact that his life was in danger.
In response, Atwoli stated that as a family man, he could not have been engaged in the plotting of the MP's and fellow trade unionist's murder.
"As I explained at the time, in my community, if you have a family, you can't plot and execute evil or kill, but whomever possesses the truth is free to be released for justice rather than propaganda," he added.
The late MP is heard lamenting in a video tape uploaded by activist Boniface Mwangi about a tale he claims was made up to link him to a love triangle situation in which he is accused of eloping with someone's wife.
He said that the narrative was concocted by those who wanted to get rid of him and blame his problems on the mythical love triangle.
The MP was entangled in a long-running spat with Atwoli, whom he accused of misconduct.
He had demanded his resignation and threatened to launch a petition to force him to quit.
Unfortunately, he was slain in Nairobi on February 7, 2015, before he could carry out his threat.
