In an interview yesterday, Keter indicated that, contrary to what the DP has been claiming, the handshake between Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was not a key element in the Uhuru/Ruto rupture.
However, he stated that the March 2018 handshake strained the two's friendship.
Keter stated that even if Uhuru had partnered with Raila during his second time in power, the breakdown between the two presidents may have occurred.
"When the handshake occurred, the connection deteriorated, which is why it was linked to the handshake."
"Otherwise, if there had been no handshake, it may have occurred."
"Perhaps it could not have happened on this scale." When things happen, you try to figure out what has changed in the surroundings. "Neither the President nor the DP have declared that it is due to the handshake," he added.
Ruto has been moving around, blaming Raila Odinga for his breakup with Uhuru after the handshake, but as Keter has pointed out, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Nonetheless, Keter added that despite his efforts to investigate, Uhuru and Ruto have never acknowledged what happened to their relationship to him.
