Martha Karua, Chairperson of Narc Kenya, has encouraged President Uhuru Kenyatta to return home in August and refrain from meddling with the 2022 presidential election.
Speaking at the Narc Kenya party's annual National Delegates Conference on Friday at Ufungamano House, Karua encouraged Uhuru to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Mwai Kibaki, who left office amicably after completing two five-year terms.
"I want to inform anyone who may try to distort the Constitution that the term limit means 10 years to manage the nation at the top level, then depart and go do something else," Karua said. "This is regardless of your age, you might even be 40, but term limit ikifika unaenda nyumbani."
Karua also advised Kenyans to vote for responsible leaders who have been tried and tested in the upcoming August elections.
She encouraged the Wafula Chebukati-led Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to hold a credible election while also ensuring freedom and fairness.
