A suspect in a robbery with violence was shot dead Friday night in Kawangware, as police increased their crackdown on criminals and criminal organizations in the city.
At approximately 9 p.m., the suspect, who was part of a group robbing passersby of their goods, had just confronted a man on his way home.
The officers on patrol near Kabiru Road were drawn to the man's desperation shouts. As the cops raced to the victim's rescue, the thugs opened fire, forcing them to flee for their lives as they prepared to retaliate.
What followed was a thunderous barrage of bullets as the police gave the thugs a taste of their own medicine, mortally injuring one of them as his companions scurried for cover with gunshot wounds.
The fallen thug was found holding a pistol loaded with three 9mm bullets. Meanwhile, a manhunt for the two remaining criminals is underway.
