President Uhuru Kenyatta is one of several senior government officials who have backed former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's presidential run in August.
Uhuru, who has served two 5-year terms, is expected to visit Gatundu in August and clear the way for a new leader to try to resuscitate the faltering economy and control the rampant corruption that has spread across the administration.
Uhuru has indicated in several comments that he chose Raila Odinga because he is the one who can unify Kenyans and lead the country forward.
The President has also described Raila Odinga as a forgiving individual who has Kenyans' best interests at heart.
However, a video showing Uhuru mocking Raila in 2017 and accusing him of destroying his government has surfaced.
Uhuru repeatedly told Raila in the video that he should be embarrassed of himself.
