The Migori High Court in Kenya has sentenced two Tanzanian nationals to 35 years each for the murder of their employer.
The Tanzanians are Marwa Magige Kieusi and Makonge Wangwi Maseti, who were both convicted of killing Thomas Moronge Makuri in June 2020 for unknown reasons.
Makuri suffered his sudden death between June 5, 2020, and June 6, 2020, in the village of Karosi in Bukira East, a small West Kuria area within Migori county.
Police reports say the detainees used dull weapons, including swords, and then threw the body into an underground water tank inside the compound and later fled to Tanzania.
After a search by Kenyan police detectives, a black man and his co-accused, Makonge, were arrested in Tanzania at various times and escorted to Kenya to face a murder charge before the Migori High Court, where they denied the charges.
The trial officially began on November 23, 2020, before Judge Roseline Wendo and the prosecution closed the case on April 24, 2021.
The two defendants were found guilty of murder, and on February 24, 2022, each was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
