As fierce fighting intensifies in the Ukrainian cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, black people living in the country, especially from Africa, have raised serious allegations of racism, stating that some black people have been barred from crossing the border into Poland to seek asylum.

According to The Independent in the United Kingdom, some black people have been left with no choice but to flee after being prevented from crossing the battlefield.

A black man who identified himself as Osarumen, a Nigerian who has lived in Ukraine since 2009, told The Independent that he and his three sons were dropped off on a bus on Saturday as they tried to flee to Poland.

He goes on to explain that when they questioned why they were being dropped off and some whites were left behind, military officials told them that "black people are not allowed on the bus."
