One family is mourning the deaths of three relatives who perished after a fire destroyed their home in Kiambu County.
The incident on Friday night resulted in the deaths of a mother and her two sons, between the ages of seven and nine, and upset residents of Ndaraca village in Juja, Kiambu County.
According to neighbors who tried to rescue the three, the source of the fire was not immediately clear, but there were rumors that the fire may have been caused by a candle.
The residents, led by Francis Munga, said the victims were asleep when the fire broke out.
The children's father's efforts to save his family were in vain, with serious burn injuries, and he is currently receiving treatment at Kiambu Five Hospital.
The residents are appealing to the government to address the problem of power shortages in the area, which they say is causing residents to use alternative methods to get light, which are dangerous.
