Dr. Alfred Mutua, the Governor of Machakos, has startled the Azimio La Umoja camp by openly telling former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to resign and go home, and allowing future leaders to run the nation in 2022.
Mutua, who backed Raila Odinga's presidential campaign last month, says he is still in the race and has ruled out backing Jakom.
Raila and his staff, as well as those who battled for the nation and ensured a sound foundation was created, should go home, according to Mutua, who spoke on Saturday.
He went on to say that a new generation of leaders is needed to take Kenya to the next level.
He ended his statement by declaring that the Maendeleo Chap Chap party would be contending for the top seat as well.
"I'd want to honor all those who have worked hard to build a strong foundation for Kenya."
"People like Raila Odinga, who have been imprisoned for advocating for democracy.
"At the same time, I'd want to request that they enable teenagers to lead."
"They should take a break and mentor a new generation of leaders."
"I'm going to run for president, and I'm not scared." Mutua explained.
