The bizarre stories of the series about the bodies dumped on the Yala River take over Twitter, and they are as grotesque as you might imagine.
But activist Bonifas Mwangi was surrounded by Haki Africa's director Hashalid, who put Kenyans on an absolute roller coaster and the bodies of unidentified people were thrown into the river.
Later, some of the recovered people were piled up at the Yala District Hospital and later buried all at once due to unidentification.

According to Mwangi, his move was informed by advice from worried John Doe, who involved him in a bizarre event.

"We responded to social media reports about the bodies floating on the Yala River.
We went to Siaya County and saw the bodies of 21 unidentified men. We had two more on the river. I saw it floating in.
@HakiAfrica has a list of 67 enforced disappearances from 2021 and 8 enforced disappearances since 2022, "he tweeted.
Mwangi recorded disturbing reports of bodies dumped into the river, such as through the Probox and double cabs, as reported by school children and Boda Boda drivers.
I was tagged on quoted tweet last week by @JoelMbirika and l shared it with @HakiAfrica’s director @husskhalid. Khalid requested I accompany him to Yala today. One okero is a designated body retriever for the area.
He is reported to have recovered 31 bodies since July last year, with at least 5 recovering each month.
Mwangi also shared a graphic image of the corrupt bodies at the Yala District Hospital, as if nine bodies were buried unidentified on October 20, last year.
The story saw the trend of #RiverYalaBodies as it pushed KOT into high gear and many Kenyans expressed shock and distrust. Here are some of the notable reactions:
“My brother was murdered seven years ago by police, put in a sack and dumped at Oldonyo Sabuk river. I had goosebumps watching the thread. I thought his case was isolated kumbe these things are happening 😢. Maybe you can check Oldonyo Sabuk river too.”-Via DM #RiverYalaBodies pic.twitter.com/haDyIuRwY8
