Following his arrest on drug trafficking allegations, Frank De Tank, a Belgian national and TikTok celebrity residing in Kenya, has made headlines.
In 2017, the 42-year-old drug dealer traveled to Kenya and rented a home in Nairobi's green suburbs with his 22-year-old lover.
Under the name 'Frank Murugi,' he created a TikTok account and swiftly built a big following of over 1 million followers.
His supporters believed he was a legitimate businessman until he was detained and deported back to Kenya when news surfaced that he was sought for allegedly generating Ksh.452 million (€ 3.5 million) in drug trafficking revenues.
Despite finding refuge in Kenya, he is reported to be one of Belgium's most infamous narcotics dealers.
Frank and his comrade El Hajjioui Nordin were accused leaders of a ring that smuggled over 2000 tons of cocaine in 2015 and 2016, according to international media sources.
Nordin was allegedly sentenced to 40 years in jail in his absence, but he has since escaped to the United Arab Emirates, notably Dubai.
His extradition has been requested by Belgian authorities, but it has been refused by the UAE.
Frank, who had previously worked as a dock worker at a Belgian port, was then detained and interrogated.
Later, he agreed to cooperate with the authorities in the arrest of the drug trafficking ring.
After being released on bond, he fled to Kenya in 2017.
His re-arrest was the result of additional investigations.
Before he was detained and deported, he had been flaunting his opulent lifestyle on social media and uploading videos of himself flexing with his Kenyan lover.
The videos below were taken from his TikTok account.
