Chimano Festival Suspended by Police

Sauti Sol Willis singer Austin Chimano had planned to organize a concert under the name "Love and Harmony" this Saturday, February 26, 2022, but it was suspended by security officials.

Chimano explains that the festival was originally scheduled to be held in the Westlands area of Nairobi, but police advised him to change the venue for security reasons. 

He and a group of organizers agreed and changed the venue of the festival to Ngong Road just one day before the festival police officer cleared it.

Austin blames police officers for what he describes as racism.

He feels that the police have taken such action as one way to put an end to his human rights movement.

Chimano assured fans who had bought tickets for the festival that they would get their money back.

Bold Network Africa CEO Makena Njeri said that as sponsors tried to defend the festival but met with thresholds, it was not uncommon. 

"We did our best to find an alternative venue as advised, but the Kenyan police ordered us not to cancel the festival without any explanation." wrote Makena.
