North Korea has launched a long-range missile into the sea in a continuation of its weapons tests after the end of the Winter Olympics in China.
The test is the eighth this year, with some experts saying that North Korea is trying to perfect its weapons technology while pressuring the United States to make concessions such as lifting sanctions.
The heads of all South Korea's armed forces have confirmed that North Korea fired missiles but did not elaborate. The president's office has said it plans to hold an emergency meeting of the national security council to discuss the launch.
