Ruto Is in Hot Water After Claiming That Uhuru Is Preparing to Rig the August Election - Chebukati Releases a Statement

On Tuesday, Deputy President William Ruto met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Africa Molly Phee in Washington, DC, where he accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of plotting to destroy democracy in Kenya.

Without naming Uhuru, Ruto provided a thorough explanation of what he called the government's broad strategy to rig the August 9th election.

In response to Ruto's charges, the head of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Wafula Chebukati, has threatened to call Ruto to clarify the vote-rigging allegations.

Chebukati stated that as a commission, they will seek to discover what Ruto knows about the state's efforts to rig the August 9th elections.

Chebukati also informed Kenyans that his team will work hard to ensure that the right things are done in the right way during the August 9th elections, with the goal of delivering free, fair, and verifiable elections.
