Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential candidate Twaha Mbarak has vowed to restore the status of Kenyan football if he is elected to the presidency in this year's elections.
In an interview with KBC, Mbarak, a former player, said that some of the things he will give priority to if he is given the role of football leadership include: forming a savings and loan association for major league players, forming a single union of retired players, bringing equitable selection of players in the Harambee Stars team, establishing a better youth football organization, and strengthening women's football.
"If I succeed in taking over the leadership of FKF, I will bring together retired players from the same party, and put them in sacco major league players so that when they retire they will have at least something to help them, I also want to put in place a better and more organized football system in the Youth Structure. "The development of players for the national teams, the balance of selection of players in the national team Harambee Stars and the softening and strengthening of women's football" said Mbarak

Mbarak, who had run for the presidency in the last election without success, was speaking on Wednesday at City Stadium when he visited retired Kenyan players at training and gave them 200,000 shillings to pay for their trip to Uganda for power play matches.
Mbarak will be running for FKF chairmanship in partnership with Andrew Amukoa who will be his deputy in the by-elections scheduled for April this year by an interim committee appointed by Minister Amina to run football, following the dissolution of the FKF led by Nick Mwendwa.
